Places To Visit In Bangkok

Thailand is one of the most attractive places to visit in Southeast Asia. And why not? Endowed with sandy white beaches fringed by lush green vegetation, beautiful monasteries and temples, shiny and peaceful images of Buddha and the ever smiling natives, Thailand offers you the perfect gateway to luxurious and relaxing vacation. Aptly called the Land of Smiles, the people of Thailand are always generous and hospitable to the tourists.

Bangkok, the capital of Thailand is one of the most frequently visited places. However, if you are planning to visit Bangkok, the city of lights and the city of culture and tradition, you must make a list of the places that you plan to visit.

If you want to have a taste of the history of Thailand, then Grand Palace is one of the places that is worth a visit. It was the former residence of a royal family and consists several temples, houses, and government offices of the olden days.

Another interesting place to visit is the Erawan shrine. This was built during the year 1950 in the honor of Brahma and his elephant, Erawan. Various traditional dances are also held in the open air.

To feel the hustle-bustle of the shopping outlets, Thewet market is the perfect place to go. It is colorful and bustling with life and series of products like pottery, plants, flowers, and Thai cuisines.

To uplift your spiritual mood, you can visit the famous temples in Bangkok, Sri Mahamariamman Temple and Wat Pho. The former features intricate and delicate carvings and sculpting of Hindu deities on the walls while the latter is a 200 year old temple. Wat Pho is noted for the majestic gold plated reclining Buddha, which is 46 meters long and 15 meters high. It is also adorned with mother of pearl inlaid feet, which is three meters long.

Snorkeling & Diving in Koh Chang

The best diving season is between October/November and April. The best sites are on the west and southern tip of the island, between Koh Chang and Koh Kood. There you can see soft corals, anemones, myriad reef fish, and sometimes eel. Hin Luk Bat and Hin Lap both have coral seamounts. Further south, white-tip reef sharks can be found near Hin Phrai Nam.

In addition, there are two wreck dive sites. The Koh Chang Wreck is a Thai warship sunk by the French navy in 1941. The wreck is only 15 metres deep in the Salakphet Bay on the southern tip of the island. The other wreck is the Pak One Wreck which sank after hitting a coral reef in August 1996 on its way to Vietnam. It resurfaced almost 8 years later. The 900-ton sunken tanker posed a danger to ships on international waters. The Royal Thai Navy drained off its 600 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas and resank it between Koh Chang and Koh Samet. It now lies horizontally in 35-meter deep waters.

There are a few diving centres on Koh Chang such as the Ploy Scuba Diving in Bang Bao. Following the standards of the sister centre in Koh Samet, this is the premier diving operator in Eastern Thailand. The Dolphin Divers at the Amari Emerald Cove Resort offers free trial in the resort's swimming pool. For those who prefer fun dives without a long boat trip Dolphin Divers operate speedboats from the resort's beach to the nearest dive sites in only 15 minutes. Others include the Koh Chang Dive Centre on Kai Bae Beach, Paradise Scuba Divers at the Klong Prao Resort and Koh Chang Divers on Had Sai Khao (White Sand Beach).

The Dive Adventure Koh Chang has claimed to be the only PADI 5 Star IDC center in Koh Chang with its multilingual instructors and divemasters. It is advantageously located at Bang Bao fishing village with its own resort.

A few dive centres operate out of Koh Mak. Boat trips to various dive sites range from 1,800 to 3.000 Baht depending on distances, and typically include two dives, full equipment, transportation, food, drinks and a divemaster.

Do You Know Spis, The Most Gorgeous Region of Slovakia?

If you're going to make a visit to Slovakia, you must visit the Slovak region of Spis. Spis boasts among the most beautiful scenery in Slovakia, and is also rich with historical and cultural spots. Bordered on the west by the Belanske Tatras and High Tatras on the north by Spisska Magura, and on the south by the Slovak Ore Mountains (Slovenske Rudohorie), when you visit, you'll see why the scenery is simply unforgettable.

How Spis came to be

In the mid-12th century, during the reign of King Bela Gejza, there was German colonization, which changed the course of history for Spis. Import trade routes ran throughout Spis, and the region was secured by castles, most important of which was the Spis Castle, the largest of the medieval fortresses in Slovakia and one of the most impressive in Central Europe. Spisska Kapitula and Spisske Podhradie have impressive architecture, such that they are even recognized in UNESCO's World Heritage Registry.

Other places to visit in Spis

The 13th century Early Gothic church is nearby, in the community of Zehra, with its impressive structure and beautiful paintings adorning its walls. You don't have to stop your tourist pursuits with Zehra, though. You should explore also the other important towns in the region: Spisska Nova Ves, Poprad with beautiful old part Spisska Sobota and Stara Lubovna, which is one of the oldest towns in the region.

However, what many consider Spis's crowning jewel is Levoca. Levoca is a former free royal town, and sits at the center of Slovakian history. The oldest writings of Levoca date back to 1249; back as far as the early Middle Ages, the town stored supplies, was exempt from tolls, and had other rights beneficial to trade. It was, in fact, part of the central route from Hungary to Poland.

In 1323, Levoca became a free royal town, with unsurpassed standing and affluence. Today, the church buildings there, including the Gothic St. James Church with the tallest Gothic wooden altar in the world, speak to this past. The residences that still gather around the square are also reminiscent of this past. Levoca's historical core is surrounded by surviving fortification, and is currently an urban heritage preserve.

Places to see in Levoca

Besides other tourist attractions in Spis, Levoca's town hall dates to the end of the 15th century; the town hall speaks of its autonomy and emancipation during this time, a rarity. Today, the Spis Museum is there. The Roman Catholic parish church of St. James is an important site for those interested in the ecclesiastical. The church is a National Cultural Monument, as is the main altar, which was created from 1508 to 1517 by Master Pavol of Levoca. Again, this is the largest Gothic altar in the world, with a height of 18.8 meters.

You may also visit Master Pavol's home in Levoca; it dates back to the 15th century and houses an exhibition dedicated to him. Finally, the Church and Monastery of the Minorities shows off the intricacy and beauty of Gothic design in Slovakia dating back to that time period. Truly, there's something in Spis and in Levoca for everyone; you won't want to miss it!

During your travelling across the Central Europe it would be a mistake to omit Slovakia and its most beautiful part Spis with town Levoca. One of the best choices to stay during your exploring of this region is Hotel U Leva in Levoca, with its cozy atmosphere combining the medieval charm with the present-day comfort.

Restaurants in Phuket - Where to Eat on Thailand's Top Island

If you're planning a trip to Phuket, Thailand, you'll most likely be looking for information about two things: nightlife and restaurants. As one of Thailand's most popular destination, the restaurants in Phuket have a lot to offer. However, if you're only visiting Phuket for a fleeting visit, you won't have the time to weed out the good from the bad.

Thai restaurants in Phuket are everywhere. There is less of the street food than you might find in Bangkok, but there are countless small restaurants where you can eat like a king for a couple of bucks. With its close proximity to the sea, there are a large number of seafood restaurants in Phuket. The Thais have a knack for concocting some of the most amazing seafood dishes around.

Italian restaurants in Phuket are seemingly everywhere, but the quality of the food is usually a bit hit and miss. Furthermore, a lot of the Thai restaurants that also serve Italian food create such bizarre dishes as pasta with ketchup. If you've never had pizza with ketchup, you'll be in for an experience, too. Breaking the mold are a few places in Phuket City.

Some of the best restaurants in Phuket can be found at the high-end resorts. While they are expensive, if you want incredible Western or Japanese dishes, you often have to pay for the privilege. Some of the luxury resorts in Mai Khao play host to some fine restaurants.

There are far too many Indian restaurants in Phuket, most of which are located in Patong. Patong is expensive and the focus is on mass tourism. As a result, the food is often substandard. If you want to eat Indian food in Phuket, you'd be better off checking out places in Phuket Town.

4 Most Beautiful Thailand Beaches

Thailand has one of the most beautiful beaches on the planet. For those that have traveled there they know that the beauty of this untouched place makes for some of the best vacations in the world. This is coupled with the vast amount of historical culture that abounds the countryside and there is never a shortage of things to do in this country. Because much of this land is untouched by development you will find that relaxation and peaceful living is more than possible. The reaches of the mighty have not gotten this far and that means that you will get the very best in the vacation arena, especially when it comes to the Thailand beach areas.

Khao Lak is a wonderful Thailand beach. Just a short drive from the airport, this paradise offers a remote vacation area like no other. Thanks to the area being largely uninhabited, there is lush rain forest nearby along with a whole host of wildlife to be viewed. The water remains warm in the November through December months and the fishing and scuba diving is out of this world.

Phuket Thailand Beach is another great spot. Enjoy this resort November through March. There is more than enough to do. It is a bit more crowded than other beaches as this area thrives on the tourism dollars that it brings in. The scuba diving is top notch in this area and you will also find some of the warmest most clear water in the world. There are several nearby attractions to keep one busy for quite a few days.

Phi Phi Don Thailand beach is quite the turn around. Once a remote and nearly unknown place, this Thailand beach came to life when Hollywood came in and filmed a movie here. It is now considered to be one of the most popular beaches in the entire country and is frequented by many big names. This is a site that you will not want to miss, as the views are breathtaking and the water warm and inviting.

West Railiy Thailand beach is one of the undiscovered diamonds in the rough. There is very little that is expensive here and one can stay at the "resort" for over a week and barely tap the budget. The sands are milky white and the water clear. Scuba diving is very popular here as well as the fishing. This location is only accessible by long tail boat so plan for a bit of a long ride.
